Motorcycles, Madness & Miracles, is the raw and brutally honest story of Katarina, once an abused child, but now a grown woman who carved out a future for herself as a custom motorcycle painter, and then enters her bike in The Rat’s Hole Custom Chopper Show during the Sturgis Rally. Here, she meets Groovy J, a fellow biker that loves to laugh, and they both tell climactic stories of their lives centered around motorcycles and the military.
Katarina and Groovy J quickly strike up a friendship — recognizing something real within the other that is rarely seen in their daily lives. Over several shared hours, on a narrow strip of grass at the forest’s edge, this friendship blossoms as the two delve into pressing topics ranging from clean air, water and food to how to heal the holes of trauma.
Although both of the main characters are flawed, Katarina and Groovy J are both inherently likeable and funny. These characteristics leave the reading audience rooting for them. Thus, the ending is a feel good moment when they find out what award their bike's won and with Groovy J heading back to his family with a lighter heart from all that he learned.
